DTx: Commercialization is a Challenge

blog post Feb 09, 2020

One article in my series about Digital Therapeutics after interviews with CEOs in the new category.

During my conversations with CEOs it is clear that everyone is struggling with commercialization.

While everyone seems to have clarity on their therapeutic, diagnostic, case management, or wellness solution and how to develop the software, the pathway for commercial availability and adoption within the healthcare ecosystem is fuzzier. Because so much effort has been required to develop the solution, fitting the product into the health care ecosystem has taken a back seat. Additionally, there are not as many industry insiders in many of the companies to help navigate adoption. There is a symbiotic relationship between payers, providers, systems, and manufacturers. Navigating these confusing relationships can be challenging and frustrating.

The the clinical benefits and economic savings that can be gained with digital therapeutics are very exciting, but if companies don’t align to gaining adoption through traditional means the category as a whole could stall.

If you want to tried-and-true approach to gaining adoption within the healthcare system, call me so we can evaluate the challenges you face and develop a plan. And if you don’t know where your problem exists, that’s ok too. I have a process to assess where you are and what you are doing as a company and provide an analysis of what is holding you back.
