1. Medtech+Mindset is Growing!

Insight from Matt Tucker

I'm very excited to announce the launch of the Medtech+Mindset Private Community! This community is where Medtech professionals can come to enhance their skillsets in commercialization and product adoption AND improve their mindset to reach professional and personal goals faster and easier.

Most communities focused on medtech are news aggregators, places to share company news, and event sites.

Medtech+Mindset is different.

We recognize most often, what's holding you back from reaching your biggest goals is your mindset. We want our members to reach their goals and discover how to maximize the impact they can make in our industry and for our patients.

Of course there will be opportunities to talk, collaborate, and learn commercialization and adoption techniques and skillsets.

And we have some affiliate partners who will help us bring their expertise to the table.

But our main goal is to help our members develop so they can achieve anything they set their minds to.

If you're looking for a supportive community of like-minded medtech professionals who are committed to personal and professional growth, look no further than Medtech+Mindset!

To learn more reply back and we can tell you more.

2. Ten Reasons...

Insight from Matt Tucker

I've been thinking a lot about why some doctors don't adopt new products. Some thoughts on 10 key reasons why it doesn't happen

1. Time constraints - doctors are busy and don't have time to research and adopt new products.

2. Lack of knowledge - doctors may not be aware of new products or how they can benefit their practice.

3. Financial considerations - new products can be expensive and may not be covered by insurance.

4. Risk aversion - some doctors may be reluctant to try new products, preferring to stick with what they know.

5. Fear of change - doctors may be resistant to change, even if a new product could improve their practice.

6. Comfort zone - doctors may be comfortable with the products they currently use and see no need to switch.

7. Conflicting information - with so much information available, it can be difficult for doctors to know who or what to believe.

8. Lack of trust - some doctors may not trust the companies that make new products or the people selling them.

9. Personal preference - in the end, some doctors may simply prefer one product over another for personal reasons.

10. Time investment - adopting a new product can require a significant investment of time and effort, which some doctors may not be willing to make.

3. Three (3) Ways to Remove the Bottleneck Between You and Success

Insight from Kevin Kermes

One thing I know about the M+M subscriber community is that it's FULL of high achievers.

As such, you have goals.

And, having worked with high achivers all my life (military, headhunter and executive coach), I know we often find ourselves in one of three places:

  1. Wanting to achieve more of them (quantity issue).
  2. Desiring more speed between now and achievement (frequency issue).
  3. Frustrated by a goal eluding us (typically an "upper limit" issue).

I have conversations about these issues almost daily with colleagues, friends, and clients.

In almost every instance, they've tried to address the issue(s) themselves.

Come on, we don't shrink when challenged :).

And, in almost every instance, they have sought out information, tactics, blueprints, hacks, etc. to crush the obstacle (issue) and achieve success, again.

Here's the thing.

When we find ourselves facing apparent bottlenecks and the external advice, guidance and approaches being offered up aren't working...

it's time to go inward.

That's because...

We are always the bottleneck to our own success.

A test case of 16,000 clients

In 2008, I created a company (Career Attraction) where we helped more than 16,000 high achievers land 6-figure jobs they love.

I took the approach I'd used for 1,000+ executive searches as a headhunter and reverse engineered it.

We (our team of coaches) also began digging deep on Mindset.

I looked back at what I'd seen from:

  • the most elite warriors I'd worked with in the military (infantry and special operations).
  • top tier executives with whom I'd worked as both candidates and clients.
  • Professional and Olympic-level athletes I knew.

In every instance, they had the same access to training and information that others had...

but they attributed much of their success to the mental game they were playing.

Naturally, this was incorporated into the foundational phase of the coaching program and became the BIGGEST differentiator (in military terms: combat multiplier).

The Three (3) Most Common Bottlenecks Seen

With that many clients from a myriad of industries spanning economic highs/lows and even a pandemic...

we still had three (3) common saboteurs standing between our clients and their unachieved goals.

1. Dismissing the Success Cycle

If you're not familiar with it, the cycle is simple (and powerful):

  • The amount of belief you have determines the amount of potential you can tap into.
  • The amount of potential you tap into determines the amount of action you take.
  • The amount of action you take determines the results you get.
  • The results you get determine your belief in yourself.

Rinse, wash, repeat.

To that end, we immediately go to uncovering beliefs that:

  • served you in the past, but no longer do (what got you here won't get you there)
  • have never served you, but continue to play in the background (limiting and self-limiting beliefs).

Until these are uncovered and dealt with at the surface level, they continue to hold back even the most accomplished.

2. Not Acknowledging Fear Productively

Change is the new saber-toothed tiger for the amygdala.

The problem is that change and adaptation are a constant in the world we've designed for ourselves.

(talk about a self-inflicted wound)

Therefore, discounting "fear" (which high-achievers are notorious for) is a common misdiagnosis.

Here's the thing.

Fear isn't something we need to fear nor think of as some sort of shortcoming (especially men).

It's natural.

Moreover, it's a natural reaction and it's coming from a part of us that's trying to serve us...

even when it's not.

(re-read that)

Learning to discern and respond versus react to fear productively is critical to not hamstringing ourselves from achieving our goals.

3. Trying to "Grind" and "Hammer"

This one often comes on the heels of #2 as a "reaction."

There's a lot of rhetoric out there around "grinding" and "hammering" through tough situations.

And, while I believe it has a time and place, it can be a dangerous default.

A Special Forces NCO once said to me as a young Lieutenant...

"It's hard to be hard, but sometimes t's harder to be smart."

And, when it comes to grinding and hammering through or aginst something (read: fear) that you are producing...

You're fundamentally fighting with yourself.

It's not sustainable nor is it economical or productive.

It also demands a zero-sum game...

in which you ALWAYS lose.

It's why we train to slow down and get curious. Often, inviting a simple question:

"How does this make perfect sense?"

Much like #1, getting to the root of what we are creating and why allows us to remove another bottleneck we are creating for ourselves.

These are just a handful of the bottlenecks we explore and remove in the 14-Day Mindset Sprint inside the MedTech + Mindset Community.

If any of these landed with you, hit "reply" and we'd love to help you achieve those goals that have eluded you.
