I hate to say it...customers barely hear anything you say.

 

And even if they hear it, it takes them repetition to absorb it.

 

So it takes patience. Patience for them to process all the information, and patience to learn the concepts that are foreign to them.

2. Top ways to improve listening skills

Insight from Matt Tucker 
  1. Active listening - pay attention.  When you drift off, remind yourself to re-join the conversation.
  2. Emotional intelligence - are you considering your own bias?  Are you continuously asking yourself if you are reacting and responding based on logic....or emotion?
  3. Body language - what body language are you picking up on?  Is your audience leaning back...or leaning forward?
  4. Open-mindedness...are you really open-minded?  Or are you just trying to look for ways to poke holes in someone's point or position?
  5. Questioning - Can you ask questions without making your point of view and bias obvious?  Can you keep your opinions out of your questions?
